Honking Horns, Parking Lot Maneuvers Disturb South of Market Residents

San Francisco's South of Market residents have a new nightly disturbance: Waymo's robo-taxis. Residents report being awoken by the sound of honking horns and the cars' maneuvers in a nearby parking lot at around 4 am. The cars have been observed honking their horns as they park, creating a chorus of noise that is disturbing residents' sleep.

Sophia Tung, a San Francisco resident, has been live-streaming the noisy parking lot on her YouTube channel. The videos show the cars honking and circling the lot, sometimes for hours. Tung says the noise has made it difficult to sleep and has caused her to lose sleep.

Waymo, the company that operates the robo-taxis, says it is aware of the problem and is working to fix it. The company has sent a team of technicians to the parking lot to investigate the issue. Waymo says it is committed to being a good neighbor and will do what it can to minimize the noise from its robo-taxis.
